Intention: May we receive protection from uncertainty. May we heal by receiving an understanding of the invisible. This altar is my prayer and is gifted to those suffering from, and to those who have lost loved ones to, cancer.
Special Requests
Perhaps you find it hard to attend a workshop, but you feel that you need support through this practice. Amy takes requests for special intentions and prayers for support on a smaller and personal scale.
For example, Amy made this altar upon a request from a friend who requested an offering for those afflicted with cancer. She asked an intention for healing.
The Huichol of Mexico created el Ojo de Dios as a symbol of protection and to gain understanding of things unknown and invisible to the eye. When the Huichol created el Ojo de Dios, it was given as a prayer for whom they gifted it.
The red dogwood represents God’s eye. Healing is not easy. The thistles are sharp and painful which represent the pain of sickness and loss contrasted by the softness of feathers which represent understanding and healing. Inside are flower heads from Queen Anne’s lace and Nightshade, gentle details we often miss when going through struggles, but are revealed through retrospect. The points are the heads of acorns from the gambel oak which is a plant with deep roots representing the roots we share as humans and how we need each other in order to heal and receive the understanding of unseen things. The snow represents change. Nothing is permanent.
